The Republic of the Marshall Islands offers a corporate regime founded on its Business Corporations Act, part of an Associations Law modelled on the corporate law of Delaware. Companies can be formed within 24 hours, documents are filed electronically without notarisation, and certificates of good standing are issued the same day.
The Marshall Islands also maintains one of the three largest ship registries in the world, which makes its companies a natural choice for vessel ownership, shipping groups and international holding structures; a number of companies listed in New York are Marshall Islands corporations. Non-resident entities are exempt from local taxation, file no annual return or audited accounts, and submit an annual economic substance report.
